Self-Care Sisters

Hi friends.

How are you? It's tough out there. So tough that it’s September and this is my first post for 2020.

Oh well. Life is like that sometimes.

I hope you and your families are hanging in there, what with the pandemic, widespread fires, and turbulent political scene. I'd say I'm hoping and wishing life would return to normal and sooner rather than later, but I no longer understand what normal looks like.

I wanted to take a moment to let you know about an exciting adventure I’ve embarked on–one that feeds my soul and fuels me during times both light and dark. I hope you’ll be a part of it. If you already are, wonderful! Welcome. You know what I’m talking about and can skip to the end of this post.

If you aren’t aware of the self-care group I co-founded with three other brave and beautiful women over on Facebook, called Self-Care Sisters, here are some details:

The space is one of collective energy and positivity, it is safe and our goal is to support, promote, nurture, and cultivate the different ways we can practice meaningful self-care and lean on one another when needed. We have generated some guidelines, but our efforts should not be confused with wanting to white-wash the realities of daily living. It’s a tough time, and we need each other now more than ever.

We look forward to our collective time cultivating a self-care spirit, sharing resources, and empowering others to be their best, most authentic selves by embracing self-care as a state of mind rather than a to-do list item.

If you’re getting this e-blast, you already know about me and passion for all things mental health related, most especially self-care. I had to learn the hard way to value it, and hope to share what I've learned with others.

Here’s a little more about the co-founders: Marcy, Marla, and Joan.

Marcy Cascio-Hale is a wife and mother based in southern Illinois. She is an attorney and entrepreneur, loves her family and her puppies. Self-care is important to her because it brings her back to gratitude, helping her focus on the joys in her life.

Marla Zack is a wife, mom, breast cancer survivor, and television industry veteran based in Southern California. She is passionate about ice cream and helping others. Marla has said that, “Ice cream is the perfect food and helping others feeds her soul.” Self-care is important to her because it allows her to be a better version of herself and allows her the ability to give more to others.

Joan Sherwood is married with 5 children (yours, mine and ours), 6 grandchildren and 2 cats living in southern Illinois. She is a yoga instructor and doTERRA wellness advocate educating and sharing self-care knowledge. Self-care is important to her because it brings this sometimes hectic life back into focus.

The group is about sisterhood and it’s about community. You can find guidelines for posting in the Announcement pinned at the top of the Facebook group page.

I also want you to know that you are welcome (actually encouraged) to invite your female friends to join this group – individuals who would enjoy being involved in a community of positivity, love, and kindness. All races, ages, religious, or sexual orientations are welcome the community is about LOVE and building a community of safety.

If you know someone who could use some support and would benefit from a group of amazing ladies, please direct them (and yourself!) HERE.

Mind, Body Spirit 9 26

In the days and weeks to come, I’ll be sharing more about our community and how it’s growing.
