Normalize the Conversation Podcast

A Conversation with Francesca Reicherter

In this episode of Normalize the Conversation, I share my journey of realizing that to help my daughter heal from an eating disorder, I first had to heal myself. Through conversations with my daughter, overcoming my body insecurities, and developing effective coping skills, I found a path to healing. I share advice to other parents facing similar challenges, emphasizing the importance of self-care and open communication.

Episode Highlights

I share, in part:

  • Why healing and learning how to control our reactions to a child’s illness is the best action we can take.
  • Why conversations like this one are crucial in helping those of us without good role models to talk about the hard stuff.
  • How fear impedes our ability to be present and helpful to our loved one.
  • Of course we don’t know what to do! How could we? That’s why professional help is so important.
  • How healing doesn’t mean there will no longer be discomfort.
  • How fighting patterns, like shame and eating issues, entrenches them even further and what to do instead.
