Some Things That I Love

Happy Memorial Day weekend. I hope everyone has a fun, safe, and joyous three days off (if you have a three day weekend.) Please take a moment to reflect on our brothers and sisters in uniform who give so much to protect our freedom. I have many family members who served and plan to send a note of "thanks" to each one. I want them to know I appreciate their sacrifices and those of their families.

This is Mt. Boney, part of the Santa Monica Moutain Range. The top part of the mountain is the view out my kitchen window. For this shot, I had to walk a few blocks. While there, I took an opportunity to breathe deep the cool sea air and feel the sun's warmth on my face. It gets so easy to overlook the natural beauty that surrounds us. Take a moment today to appreciate a simple view wherever you may be.

  1. What a beautiful view, and from your kitchen window! Wonderful! It's always great to appreciate and enjoy the good in our lives, whether the people, places or things we are fortunate to have. I used to have a beautiful view of mountains, too. Now our neighbors' trees have grown so high and wide that they are more apparent than the mountains. I miss the clear view of the mountains, but the trees provide some much needed shade in our back yard on hot days! Look for the silver-lining…

  2. Wow, Tracey! That is one gorgeous view! What a great reminder. It's so easy to pass things over. I was with my family for 5 weeks and it went by so fast. I left to head back to San Diego today and looking back, there were many moments I took for granted:-(

  3. Thank you Katie! Thanks for taking the time to check me out…so to speak. And that's human nature isn't it, not to notice the small opportunities to be grateful for. Never dear though, I'm sure there will be many more that you will be able to grasp onto and hold close to your heart. xo

  4. It's funny you mention the trees Sue. We have the same problem with our kitchen window view and our neighbors palm tree…Tom and I have had more than one joking conversation about sneaking over there and cutting it down! We never would though..of course 🙂
